2016 Environmental Study Session

2016 – The Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted environmental study sessions for elementary students. Our staff, Mayumi Ida, Toshinori Funao, Yuta Inamoto and Shota Minami led the lecture theme “enjoying observation of nature.” The 1st class conducted an investigation on the aquatic organisms in the Katsura River, the 2nd class had a quiz rally on the different tree leaves and the 3rd class conducted an investigation on insects such as grasshoppers. Thank you to the elementary school staff for having us.

2016 Career Experience Program at Keihanna Commemorative Park

We welcomed 10 junior high school students at Keihanna Commemorative Park for the 2016 Career Experience Program.

The junior high school students were given the opportunity to experience creating a fall arrangement of dried persimmon, investigating the park property and maintaining the forest area.

UNESCO trainees visited the Heijō-kyō Sakyo Sanjo Nibo Palace Garden

Our company is currently working with a team on the restoration project of the Heijō-kyō Sakyo Sanjo Nibo Palace Garden (known as the Kyūseki Teien) in Nara City, a designated Special Historic Site and Special Places of Scenic Beauty. Here, we welcomed trainees from the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO who are involved in the preservation of cultural heritages in the Asia-Pacific region. They observed the process of excavating a scenic stone that will be restored.

Fall 2015 work experience

The Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company is designated to manage and care for, held a seminar for middle school students as part of their career experience program. Some of the career experience events included a park tour with a popular spot quiz, creating satoyama (nostalgic) landscapes (making dried persimmons), and investigating and reporting on scenic spots.

July 26, 2015 – Ashinaga Kyotology Program

July 26, 2015 (Sun) – President Tomoki Kato and several of our garden craftsmen hosted a petite garden (hachiniwa) workshop and lecture on Japanese gardens at Kurodani Konkai Komyo-ji Temple for the Ashinaga “Kyotology Program.” We thank the 45 internship students who came from around the world to learn about Kyoto and Japan.

Hino River Basin Expedition Team 2015

Late June ~ mid July, 2015 – Toshinori Funao a park staff of the Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company is designated to manage and care, attended as an advisor for the “Hino River Basin Expedition Team 2015 – Observing Creatures” workshop. He taught the elementary school students how to collect aquatic creatures and the creatures they would find. The event was sponsored by the Midori Net Hino River Basin and the Hino River Basin Mizusumashi Committee of Shiga Prefecture. June 26 (Fri), 2015 – Gamounishi Elementary School 4th grade 53 students. July 2, 2015 (Thurs.) – Gamoukita Elementary School 4th grade 60 students. July 16, 2015 (Thurs.) – Nishiōji Elementary School 5th grade 11 students.

KYOTO SMART CITY EXPO 2015

May 21, 2015 (Thurs.) – Our company is designated to manage and care for the Keihanna Commemorative Park. The park director, Takashi Yamaguchi and event management chief, Akiko Wada attended the KYOTO SMART CITY EXPO 2015 opening ceremony that was held at KICK (Keihanna Open Innovation Center @Kyoto) and exhibited a poster as a nearby facility. With the progression of the “Keihanna Science City,” the Keihanna Comm. Park is a relaxing scenic spot with lush green nature in the community. The expo was an excellent experience to reevaluate the roles of the park in a community with developing smart city projects.

 

May 13~15, 2015 – Seikanishi Middle School Career Experience

From May 13~15 (Wed.~Fri.), 2015 – The Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company is designated to manage and care for, held a seminar for the Seikanishi Middle School students as part of their career experience program. Some of the career experience included the park staff conducting a lecture while touring the park, creating satoyama (nostalgic) landscapes, and hands-on garden fence making workshop.

“The Future of Park Management” International Symposium 2015 in Awaji

May 14, 2015 (Thurs) – “The Future of Park Management” International Symposium 2015 was held during The Awaji Flower and Greenery Fair 2015. Akiko Wada, the event management chief of the Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company is designated to manage and care, conducted a presentation and participated in the poster presentations. This was an excellent opportunity to network and share ideas with various park management related personnel not only from all around Japan, but also internationally. 

2015 “Ocha no Kyoto” (Kyoto a City of Tea)

Since 2015 – The park director Takashi Yamaguchi of the Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company is designated to manage and care, joined the “Ocha no Kyoto” (Kyoto a city of tea) project promotion meetings and practitioner’s meetings. The project is conducted by Kyoto Prefecture for the promotion and revitalize the southern area of Kyoto. 

2015 “Observation Workshop of Creatures in a Lotus Field”

April 26, 2015 (Sun) – The Osaka Museum of Natural History requested our staff from the Keihanna Commemorative Park which our company is designated to manage and care, Yuta Inamoto as a lecturer for a workshop. The “observation workshop of creatures in a lotus field” was held in Mishimae, Takatsuki City. Roughly 200 participants came to learn about the creatures living in lotus fields.

 

November 8, 2014 (Sat.) – Our company is designated to manage and care for the Keihanna Commemorative Park. The park director, Takashi Yamaguchi, participated in the “Keihanna information fair Mahoroba-Keihanna SSH Science Festival” held at the Keihanna Plaza. He was also the commentator for the poster presentation by the community’s high school scientific research project.

Some of the career experience included the park staff conducting a lecture while touring the park and a workshop on creating a garden stone arrangement.

June 17, 2013 (Mon.) – “Project for Lots of Flowers”

June 17, 2013 (Mon.) – The Kyoto Municipal Nakagyo Middle School is working on a project to increase school grounds and neighborhood greenery, “Project for Lots of Flowers.” President Tomoki Kato and Mayumi Ida conducted a presentation about planting flowers and the work of a garden craftsman for the school.

2012 Doshisha International Academy – Field Trip

Oct. 30 & Nov. 1, 2012 (Tues. & Thurs.) – The Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company is designated to manage and care for, held wild bird observation classes for the Doshisha International Academy 1st grade students. Mayumi Ida, the park’s manager of creatures, conducted a lecture tour of the park introducing the various wild birds that can be seen at the park, natural observation methods, and tips on how to distinguish different species.
