As part of the Dharma-cho Project to commemorate Cosmos Initia's fiftieth anniversary, Ueyakato Landscape constructed a wall and stone table for an apartment building located to the south of the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
Based on its concept of "a lifestyle filled with discovery," the Dharma-cho Project pursues a feeling of genuine abundance through a space that creates a new narrative where tenant memories intertwine with the streets and the beauty that accumulates over the changes that come with age. To continue creating abundant living, crediting the craftsman techniques used to create these spaces is indispensable. This is why we employed craftsman and materials that carry on the spirit of traditional industry.

For the design, we used the concept of "wabi-sabi" (rustic and forlorn beauty) and focused on drawing a contrast between light and shade that evokes the feeling of a physical connection with nature.
The lobby scenery features a stone table that uses a Tamba-Kurama stone, and the wall surface uses granite from Shiraishi Island in the Setouchi Sea.

To draw out the maximum intensity of the stone materials themselves, we machined stones to be 100mm thick, and used masonry anchors and metal fittings to pull them from behind and combine them into a stone wall.
Each section is divided into upper and lower parts by a decorative shelf, with stones attached to the frames of each shelf top.

Stone surfaces also feature a chiseled finish (a look of natural providence that shows the stone as it appeared when it was first cut out). Its distinguishing feature are its large expressions conveying a deep sense of tastefulness that cannot be achieved with machining work.

The entrance hall's central pillar uses stones that have been machined into L shapes. As a result, it reveals no edges, regardless of which surface you look at it from. Each stone was assigned a number at the construction site so it could be stacked exactly as in a mock-up that was performed in advance.

Ueyakato Landcape continues to create spaces that make use of new technology while keeping the feeling of Kyoto taste.
