“Initia Kyoto Gosho-Minami,” a project Ueyakato Landscape cooperated in, wins in the Architecture – Residential category at the ICONIC AWARDS 2026.

The ICONIC AWARDS are an international design award organized by the German Design Council that focuses on all aspects of spatial design, including architecture, interior design, and product design. “Initia Kyoto Gosho-Minami” is a project led by Cosmos Initia that incorporates local materials and craftsman skills not just as decorative elements for apartment buildings, but as a system supporting the continuity of architecture, lifestyle, and locale. The project was recognized for the way diverse techniques and materials—including roof tiles, stone, plasterwork, Japanese paper, wire mesh, reclaimed wood, woodworking, tiles, and lighting—were interwoven throughout the architecture.   The award-winning entry title is titled “Craft as Infrastructure—INITIA Kyoto Goshominami.” Ueyakato Landscape cooperated mainly in designing and constructing the stonework for the entrance area and in considering new and unprecedented construction methods.   Read the award statement on the ICONIC AWARDS 2026 website.
