On October 8, 2021, Ueyakato Landscape held an environment learning class at Kyoto Kinrin Elementary School 4 as an event sponsored by the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Acting as lecturer was Yuta Inamoto of Keihanna Commemorative Park, which our company manages and operates. Together with Koyomi Naganuma of our Environmental Culture Planning Division, he led 45 second-graders and their three teachers on an insect hunt (mainly for grasshoppers) by the bank of the Kamo River.
The children used their nets to catch the many bugs hiding in the grass, listened to explanations about their names and characteristics, and enthusiastically observed them. After returning to school, we taught them about where on Earth these insects live, the differences between katydids and grasshoppers, and what to beware of when keeping them as pets.
