NIWA, Denmark’s leading journal of Japanese gardening, has published a full-length article by Ueyakato Landscape about our management philosophy at Murin-an Garden! This article, published in two parts over NIWA’s Summer and Autumn 2019 issues, explains to Danish readers how in Japan managing a garden that is a nationally designated cultural property means not just preserving it, but also utilizing it actively so that its value is spread widely among the public. Using a rich variety of photographs, we illustrated how Murin-an’s management philosophy not only fosters the garden’s original scenery, but also a community of people who are invested in its long-term preservation and can effectively communicate its value as a cultural property to the public.
