DOMUS, an international architecture, design and art magazine founded in 1928, featured an article by Ueyakato Landscape president Tomoki Kato in its May issue!
Responding to guest editor Tadao Ando’s theme of “Forming Landscapes,” Kato introduced the Japanese garden landscaping ideal of creating “mountain abodes in the city” (shichu no sankyo) and also discussed how Ueyakato Landscape manages Nanzen-in Temple’s garden so that it still imparts the feeling of being deeply secluded in the mountains, despite being today surrounded by an urban residential zone. Our company is pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to this global conversation on the contemporary role of the garden in urban society.
