Kyoto Shimbun covered “The Garden Not Yet Known: A Guided Tour for People With and Without Sight to Experience Together, by Kyoto Institute of Technology’s KYOTO Design Lab and Murin-an,” a Murin-an event held for the first time on May 12 (Thurs.). During the event, visitors who are blind paired up with volunteer staff (Murin-an fostering fellows) who took training in sighted guide techniques. Together they touched a 3D model of the garden inside the main house’s second floor before touring the garden.
Kyoto Shimbun reported on the event and introduced the 3D model of Murin-an, created through cooperation with Kyoto Institute of Technology’s KYOTO Design Lab, as a pioneering example of how Japanese gardens can be universalized.
