Nami Ogura and Michael Shapiro presented at the North American Japanese Garden Association‘s national conference!

During March 5-9, the North American Japanese Garden Association (NAJGA) held its biennial conference at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden in Fort Worth, Texas. At the conference, Nami Ogura and Michael Shapiro of our Heritage and Garden Artistry Division contributed presentations to a panel on “The History of Japanese Gardens.” This diverse panel covered a broad range of important topics, including how English language sources can be used to illuminate Japanese garden history, the origins of Japanese gardens in the United States, an innovative project to catalog traditional Japanese garden techniques, and the importance of creating and preserving archival records for Japanese gardens.

For Ueyakato Landscape, NAJGA’s biennial conference is an invaluable opportunity to deepen ties with colleagues helping to spread appreciation for Japanese gardens in North America and around the world. We look forward to participating in and cooperating with NAJGA’s activities for many years to come.
