On April 24, 2021, Ueyakato Landscape gardener Yosuke Ota and Takako Wada of our Environmental Culture Planning Division gave a guided tour of Shosei-en for the Mai Mai Kyoto sponsored event.
They strolled around the garden while weaving in explanations about the once visible scenery of Mt. Amidagamine beyond the Ingetsu-chi Pond and the well-known “Thirteen Views of Shosei-en” that the literary figure Rai Sanyo wrote of in his “Record of Shosei-en.” Finally, they gave a tour of the remnants of the garden's pond pier, a spot usually closed to the public.
The event became an opportunity for all our participants to feel the multi-faceted charms of Shosei-en.
