On October 31, 2022 (Mon.), freshman students enrolled in the “Craft Fundamentals” curriculum of Kyoto City University of the Arts’ visited Shosei-en Garden, a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty exclusively managed by Ueyakato Landscape. Shosei-en’s head gardener Yosuke Ota and Satoshi Washida, both of our company’s gardening division, and Eimi Aokawa of our Environmental Cultural Planning Division gave the class a guided tour, explaining the garden’s history and the policies and techniques by which it is managed.

We hope our gardeners’ passion for their work gave students an opportunity to see both the garden’s biodiversity and Japan’s tradition of garden creation with fresh eyes.
